Health Regulations

Travel Insurance worldwideNo inoculations or vaccinations are required for the moment.

For most standard tourists the usual recommended vaccinations for Thailand include cover against the childhood diseases (Tetanus and Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps and Rubella) as well as cover against the food borne diseases of Typhoid and Hepatitis A. Just make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines before every trip.

Certificates of inoculation for cholera or yellow fever are required if you arrive from an infected area. Some border areas of Thailand are malarial, and visitors should take the necessary precautions.

Please check with your personal doctor, or a tropical Institute  or the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  regarding the up-dated recommendation for Thailand.

Update on CoVid-19

Thailand as many other countries impose Covid-19 restriction which are changing on a regular basis. These restrictions also depend on the country you are entering from, so please contact the nearest Royal Thai Embassy.    Visit our blog and explore what Thailand prepared to keep you save during your visit in Thailand:

Medical Services

Medical Service in ThailandMedical facilities such as clinics, hospitals or dental surgeries are very good in Thailand. The country is also known for its some of the best medical services of any country in Asia, and charges are lower than in Western countries. Private hospitals and government-run hospitals provide quick and efficient service to tourists, using world-class technological equipment. Well-trained doctors and nurses staff the hospitals and clinics, offering a five-star hotel level of service. In case of an emergency, an ambulance can be summoned from any private hospital. This is one reason why Thailand is becoming more and more a medical travel destination.

Also, many hotels / resorts around the country have a doctor on a 24hrs call.

The most modern hospitals are international standard. Please note the costs of treatment and the doctor’s fees must be paid at the time. For smaller amounts it is recommended to get a proper English written receive form the hospital to claim upon your return to your insurance. In case you must go to a hospital do not forget to bring your person insurance documents with you.

Please make sure, before you leave your home that you have a proper medical travel insurance . Even the medical prices around the country are lower than at home, in the unlikely event of an medical emergency a hospital / doctor bill can exceed your holiday budget.

Special Medication

Medical Service in ThailandThe main drugs and medicines found in Europe are also generally available in pharmacies (drug stores) but at more reasonable prices. Prescriptions are not necessarily requested if you can explain what you need, or if you can show your old packet. If you have any special medical requirements, please make sure you bring the correct amount along as we cannot guarantee that you are able to get them here.  For those who plan to go scuba diving, please note that many drugs behave differently while you are diving. Please notify us of any medication you are using, so we can note it in your travel file.

Health

Please avoid drinking ice cold drinks during the heat of the day, as this can cause an adverse body reaction, for example digestive problems. In Thailand the standard of hygiene is general high and in hotels and restaurants salads, ice-cream and ice cubes in drinks and salads can be safely consumed but be wary of ice-cream etc from street vendors.

Mosquitoes are most active when it becomes dark or early in the morning. In the evening wear light-colored clothes and so not forget to shut the windows when you leave your room. Areas where you have mosquito nets, let them down before it’s getting dark. In open-air restaurants they usually place mosquito coils under the table, but it is strongly recommended to get insect-repellent sprays and lotions.
