Package a - Local Experience

Day 1: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi - River Kwai Noi     (- / L / D)

Get ready for your journey back in history and nature.  Your pick up time is between 06.00 am - 06.30 am from all major hotels in Bangkok downtown via air-conditioned minivan to Kanchanaburi which is located around 128 km to the west of Bangkok.

Our first stop will be at the Thailand-Burma Railway Center. This interactive museum is a remarkable research & information centre, dedicated to the story of the Thailand-Burma Railway. Visit one of the impressive War Cemeteries, where many of allied soldiers were buried. Then visit the worldwide known ‘Bridge over River Kwai’. It was built in about 16 months, by allied prisoners of war and Asian conscripts. The bridge was afterwards destroyed during allied bombing raids, by the end of World War II. But it was later rebuilt by Japanese,
as war reparations.

After having lunch at local restaurant.  Visit the Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre.  The interpretive center presents the history of the Burma-Thailand railway under chronological and thematic headings, explaining the rationale for the railway, the way in which it was constructed, and the hardship experienced by those who worked on it. Then you can descend the long set of stairs behind the museum to Hellfire Pass Memorial Walking Trail following the original rail bed. Then transfer to Phutakien pier and take a long-tailed boat from Phu Takien pier to the luxury floating raft retreat.  Check-in upon arrival.

Dinner followed by a 45–minute presentation of traditional Mon Dance. Overnight at luxury floating raft retreat

Day 2:   River Kwai Noi – Mon tribal Village – Mon chart - Palmetum  (B / L / D )

After breakfast, we will take a long-tailed boat to get to our sister resort, from there we will visit the nearby Mon tribal village, where the Mon people have lived for generations.  Visit the Golden Rock, Buddha image cave and village school. Mon Chat, sit down and talking with original Mon people concerning history religion culture and dances.  Experience how to wear “Sa-rong” Mon costume and how to play “Saba” traditional Mon game.  Making Tanaka powder from the wood and bark of the Tanaka tree extensively as a natural cosmetic, sunscreen, skin treatment, and insect repellent.  Then take a short walk on easy jungle trail along the riverbank to get to the stunning viewpoint of River Kwai.

In the afternoon walk around orchard road discover the fascinating variety of the botanical world in the Palmetum of the River Kwai and enjoy yourself by swimming in the Palm swimming pool

Dinner will be served on the raft overnight at your luxury floating villa

Day 3:   River Kwai Noi  - Death Railway - Bangkok   (B / L / - )

The morning is free of leisure, enjoy your last breakfast on the raft along the river. Be ready for your check out at 11.00 am to continue your way back to Bangkok. After checking out we will take a long-tailed boat to the Phutakien pier and continue for a tasty lunch at a local restaurant.

We will continue our journey through the history of this are by taking a historic ride on the famous Death Railway Train passing over original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied Prisoners of War (POWs). Arriving at the last station we will change to an air-conditioned van for last part of our tour. We meant arriving Bangkok downtown around 06.00 PM, however, under some unpredictable traffic circumstances; we could take somewhat longer hours to get back Bangkok.

Day 2:   River Kwai Noi – Sai Yok Yai Waterfall & National Park - Mon Tribal Village – Lawa Cave – Cooking Class  (B / L / D )

After breakfast, we will take a long-tailed boat upstream to visit Sai Yok Yai Waterfall & National Park. The Sai Yok Yai Waterfall flows into the river and it is famed for its beautiful environs. The fall is very impressive during the rainy season as the waterfall is extremely forceful and rapid. Our next stop will be a visit at the Mon tribal village, where the Mon people have lived for generations.  Visit the Golden Rock, Buddha image cave and village school. Take a short walk on easy jungle trail along the Riverbank to get to the stunning viewpoint of River Kwai.

We do a stopover at our raft for a delicious lunch before leaving to the Lawa Cave and explore the fascinating stalactite. The Lawa Cave is one of the caves with breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. It was formed by rain containing carbon dioxide which fell to the ground and became water with carbonic acid. It then eroded underground limestone and formed connecting holes in it. After that, when groundwater level decreased, the cave appeared.

  • The transfer from Bangkok to the resort is operating on join/ seat-in-coach basis with an English-speaking guide only. Depending on the number of guests on any confirmed tours, the correct type of car/ van / coach cannot be confirmed at your reservation.
  • Transfers are only operated within Sukhumvit (Soi 1 - 33), Silom, Pratunam areas and restricted to main hotels only
  • Regions outside the central business district such as Khao San Road, Rattanakosin, Nonthaburi, Thonburi, Minburi, both International Airports, Ratchadapisek and upper Sukhumvit (Soi 33 and further) are excluded and supplementary charges apply

Travel- & Medical Insurance

Travel Insurance including medical repatriation insurance is mandatory on all our trips. Therefore, we strongly recommend to our guests to make sure to purchase suitable insurance package, which covers all kind of traveling problems, such as lost or loss of luggage, any kind of cancellation of airlines or tours for the value for all the length of your trip.  All our tours are including local accident insurance via the operator, but they are most of the time not European standard. Make sure that it covers all the activities that you are likely to undertake, such as rafting, scuba diving, cycling, cruises, trekking etc.  Many ‘free’ insurances that come with banking packages, credit cards etc., are quite inadequate to cover you, so make sure you check the policy before your travel. You are required to give a copy of your insurance policy to your tour leader upon arrival. Without proper insurance like this, we will not be allowed to join the tour as we will not be able to respond adequately in case an emergency if you do not have the right insurance. Please also contact your doctor for further preparations regarding to your chosen travel destination including immunizations.
