Phuket’s blend of cultures is obviously evident in its people and architecture – a fusion that is unique in most of Southeast Asian countries. Just walk through the amazing old Phuket Town, discover the meaning and history behind the buildings, shops etc. Let Khun Chaya show you behind the curtain and explore how the first Chinese arrived in Phuket, how they lived. Visit the oldest pharmacy which is still offering original Chinese herbs for all kinds of need. Visit the first mansion which was built in Phuket and take a closer look into the unique and true charms of Phuket Island, as well as explore some of the sites known only to locals.
Meet with Khun Chaya at the center of Thalang Road between 08.15 – 08.30 in the heart of Phuket Old Town. During a short briefing and overview of the day, enjoy a tasty local brunch – fill your stomach before the walk. Make sure you did not have a big breakfast at your Villa / Hotel!
The Tour will be a combination of a leisurely walking-, History and Food Tour, enjoy the amazing Sino-Portuguese style architecture along Thalang Road, Soi Rommanee, Yaowarat, Deebuk, and Krabi Roads and learn more about the architectural heritage and the people who built them and how they lived in those days. Attention is directed to the subtle symbolism hidden within the construction details of Chinese shop houses, one city block deep. It is a sensual discovery of the facets of Peranakan culture and how the island relates to her urban cousins that line the coast of the Thai/Malay peninsula.
Visit one of the oldest Sino-Portuguese Mansions in Phuket town, the evidence of the Tin Legacy. It's over a hundred years old, but is well-maintained and is listed as one of Thailand National Heritages by the Nation's Fine Arts Department.
The tour then will take you to Phuket Town Fresh Market, a perfect time to see the reason behind authentic and tasty Thai food, and learn about the abundant fresh produce Thailand has to offer.
After the walk, a plethora of local Phuket dishes, prepared with aggressive flavors distinctive to the island, will be sampled at local food center.
