The area was occupied by the ancient Khmer prior to the rise of the Thai and been mainly known for its history during the construction of the Burma-Siam railway during World War II. Besides the history take the chance to explore the nature around the famous River Kwai.

Day 1: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi - River Kwai Noi     (- / L / D)

Your journey starts with a pick time between 06.00 am -06.30 am from major hotels in Bangkok downtown via air-conditioned minivan. Depart to Kanchanaburi which is located around 128 km to the west of Bangkok.

Our first stop will be at the Thailand–Burma Railway Centre in Kanchanaburi. The Thailand-Burma Railway Center is an interactive museum, research and information facility and fully air-conditioned.  The Center is dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand–Burma Railway and offers an educational and moving experience.  Visit the nearby Allied War Cemetery and show you respect to the more than 6,000 Allied Prisoners of War (PoWs), at their resting-place.  Our next stop is the world-famous River Kwai Bridge a part of theDeath Railway constructed by Allied Prisoners of War (PoWs).

We will continue our journey to the luxury tented camp to check in and enjoy your lunch with a view over the river. Get ready after a little rest our next stop on your journey into the history of this province.  We will visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum which is dedicated to all Asian laborers and Allied Prisoners of War (PoWs), who suffered and died at Hellfire Pass.  Hike along the Hellfire Pass Walking Trails before returning to the camp.

Returning to your camp in the late afternoon, you have the option of just relaxing in your Tent or get on a mountain bike and visit the village and farm nearby the camp.   

Enjoy your dinner on the exotic buffet style BBQ dinner around a camp fire.  Overnight at the camp

 

Day 2:   River Kwai Noi  (B / L / D )

For today we have a few options for you – just let us know what you like to add:

A: Take the day off and enjoy the nature around you or at the riverside natural spring pool overview the river.

B: Get on a long - tailed boat and take a breath taking ride along the historical river of River Kwae Noi and the stunning natural surroundings.  Even you have already a boat ride in your program taking a trip to a longer distance could be impressive through the abundant green nature on both sides, do not forget your camera and just relaxe  (1hrs trip)

C: Visit SaiYoke Yai Waterfall & National Park. The Sai Yok Yai Waterfall flows into the river and it is famed for its beautiful environs. The fall is very impressive during the rainy season as the waterfall is extremely forceful and rapid.    

D: Visit the Lawa Cave and explore the fascinating stalactite. The Lawa Cave is one of the caves with breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites. It was formed by rain containing carbon dioxide which fell down to the ground and became water with carbonic acid. It then eroded underground limestone and formed connecting holes in it. After that, when groundwater level decreased, the cave appeared.

E:  Take the mountain bike and explore more in detail the nearby Had Ngew’ local Village with its school and temple. The camp is set in a remote rural area called “Had Ngew”. These local villages are still specializing in basket weaving.

F:  Visit the Hintok Story Museum which is located within the camp.  The museum is located on the site of the former PoW’s camp kitchen, actually this camp was from July to September 1943 a British Prisoners of War (PoWs) Camp with 300 prisoner.

Lunch and dinner will be served at the camp.

 

Day 3:   River Kwai Noi  - Death Railway - Bangkok   (B / L / - )

Get up early in the morning and cycle across the hanging bridge to the temple “Wat Hat Ngio” and offer food to the monks.  Cycle back to the Camp and enjoy your breakfast before checking out. We will continue our journey along the Kwai River (Khwae Noi River) via a local long-tailed boat to an ethic Mon Tribal Village.  Visit the little temple and school of the Village before returning.   

We will departure the river valley for a tasty lunch at a local restaurant on our way to our next stop.  Here we will take a historic ride on the famous Death Railway Train passing over original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied Prisoners of War (POWs). Arriving at the last station we will change to an air-conditioned van for last part of our tour. We meant arriving Bangkok downtown around 06.00 PM, however, under some unpredictable traffic circumstances; we could take somewhat longer hours to get back BKK.

Note: Deviations of the tour programs or time given in the program may sometimes necessary depending on traffic condition and any uncontrollable circumstances.

Travel Insurance

including medical repatriation insurance is mandatory on all our trips. It is not included with our packages and it is your responsibility to purchase suitable insurance package. Make sure that it covers all the activities that you are likely to undertake, such as rafting, scuba diving, cycling, cruises, trekking etc.  Many ‘free’ insurances that come with banking packages, credit cards etc., are quite inadequate to cover you our tours, so make sure you check the policy before your travel. You are required to give a copy of your insurance policy to your tour leader upon arrival. Without proper insurance like this, we will not be allowed to join the tour as we will not able to respond adequately in case an emergency if you do not have the right insurance. Please also contact your doctor for further preparations regarding to your chosen travel destination including immunizations.
