The last thing travelers to Myanmar expect is a thriving vineyard. Located on a hill just outside Nyaung Shwe, Red Mountain offers wine tastings, snacks, local cuisine and stunning views of Inle Lake - watching sunset has become a particular favorite. The 400,000 grape plants were imported from France and Spain, and thrive in the rich soil and cool mountain climates. The best way to see the local area is a bike ride along the tranquil streets running from Nyaung Shwe to the vineyard. Wheels and Wine combines two Shan State favorites for an incredible half-day experience.
