 In Asian countries including Myanmar bargaining is still an art long practiced, so do not forget to ask for a proper discount. Myanmar is popular for its many different arts, crafts and antiques. Handcrafted lacquer ware are mostly produced in Bagan, embroidered cottons and wood carvings can be found all over the country. Myanmar is renowned for its precious stones, particularly rubies, but make sure you buy them only from government licensed shops, where you can get an official receipt.

While department stores, supermarkets and mini-markets in Yangon offer a wide choice of products, both foreign and local with fixed prices, the real magic of shopping is to be found mainly in the Bogjoke Aung San Market where shopping is fun and easy; and bargaining is acceptable.



In the evening, there is a wide range of choices for hanging out with friends or just enjoying some tropical cocktails. Many nightspots offer live music and a few feature dancing via DJ.
