Visa Regulation for Thailand

The applicant must possess a passport with at least six-month validity to enter the Kingdom of Thailand. Citizen from following countries can enter Thailand for 30 days without a Visa:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam. Citizen and passport holders from following countries may apply for visas at the immigration checkpoints Thailand for the purpose of tourism for the period of not exceeding 15 days: Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Mauritius, Oman, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.
Thai Visa Anyone who is not listed or plans to stay longer in the Kingdom must apply for a valid tourist visa before traveling to Thailand from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General.

Customs Regulation

Exports of Buddha images (except small ones carried on person), antiques and genuine works of art require export license from the Fine Arts Department. The shop you deal with can provide such service for you. The Fine Art Department of Thailand

Money / ATM / Credit Card

The basic unit of Thai Currency is the baht. There are 100 satang in one baht;
coins including 25- and 50 satang pieces and baht in 1, 2, 5 and 10 baht coins. Paper currency is issued in 20 baht (green), 50baht (blue), 100 baht (red), 500baht (purple) and 1000 baht (beige).

ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) Changing money
Banks offering the best foreign-exchange rates; Most banks charge a commission and duty for each travelers cheque cashed.

ATM' & Credit Cards
Debit and ATM cards issued by a bank in your country can be used at ATM machines around Thailand to withdraw cash (in Thai baht only) directly from your account back home.

Credit Cards can be used for purchases at money shops, hotels and restaurants. The most accepted credit cards are Visa, Master card follow by Amex. Be aware that you might be charge with up to 5 % extra bank fees.

Traveler cheques
US dollar traveler cheques can be conveniently cashed at all provincial banks.

Communication

The telephone, telefax and internet services are numerous. You can find internet cafes everywhere around the country.

Thailand is also on a GSM Network. Cellular operators in Thailand will allow you to use their SIM Cards in an imported phone as long as your phone is not SIM-locked. You are also able to buy in every 7eleven new phone cards.

The country code for Thailand is 66. Area or mobile phone number begins with '0' which you drop when you call into Thailand from outside the country.

If you like to make an international call from Thailand you have to dial 001 to get out of Thailand, follow by the country-, area and telephone number.

You are welcome to use your home sim card and phone within Thailand (check with your service provider at home first, since some service provider are very expensive). A cheap way is to purchase a Thai SIM for as little as 100 THB. This allows you to make cheap calls in the country at all times. You can get these kid of SIM Cards in on of the many small mobile phone kioks / shops at street-side or even at 7/11.
