Phuket - "Pearl of the Andaman Sea"
Phuket also called "The Pearl of the Andaman Sea" is located approximately 862 kilometers south of Bangkok. Phuket is Thailand's largest island, which is often natural resources- rocky peninsular, limestone cliffs, white powdery beaches, tranquil broad bays and tropical in-land forests contribute to making it to the most popular island and province.
Phuket's Highlights

Phuket Province covers an area of around 590 square kilometers which includes 39 other small islands around. Phuket islands length, from north to south, is 48.7 kilometers and 21.3 kilometers wide. Phuket borders on Phang-Nga Province in the north and is connected with the mainland by the Sarasin Bridge and Thep Krasattri Bridge. Phuket has only two seasons in a year - the green season (May to October) and the hot season (November to April). The months between September and October are the wettest months. The Hot season is the best period for a visit, feel the fresh sea breeze, see the clear blue sky and marvel at the crystal clear water while lying on powdery, palm-fringed beaches. Average temperatures ranges between 23 C and 33 C.
Phuket's topology is with 70 % of its area covered with mountains which is stretching from north to south, the remaining 30 percent being plains located in the central and eastern parts of the island, with whit sandy beaches along the west coast.

The Phuket aquarium displays more than one hundred species of marine and sea life; many taken from the waters around Phuket.
The land reclamation project "Sapan Hin" provided new land is now used for parks and public facilities.
Separated from the mainland of Phuket by the River Ta Jin and a shallow mangrove swamp Koh Sirey is via a bright. On the hill visit Wat Koh Sirey with a large Reclining Buddha and provides fine views the surroundings.
At the Phuket Sea Shell Museum you can see the world's most valuable collection of seashells.
Enjoy the sunset on this famous spot. The Prom Thep Cape stretch's in to the seas and forming the southern end of Phuket.
Between Kata Noi Beach and Prom Thep you can enjoy a great view over the bays of Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon, and also Koh Poo Island. It is one of the island's best views.
Located in the south you can see Thai elephant show, Monkey show, crocodile show, birds etc as well as many Thai animals.
Phuket's long history are on display at the Thalong National Museum.
On your way from the airport to one of the popular beaches you may pass the Monument of Heroines.
One of the nicest temples on Phuket with many statues of monks which were abbots of the temple during the years and who are the objects of respect and recipients of Phuket people.
The Pra Tong shrine encloses a golden statue of Buddha that sprang up from beneath the earth long ago with a story of a young boy who tied his buffalo to what he thought was a post.
The grounds of the historic Pra Nahng Sahng are where the Battle of Thalang took place in 1785. Inside are three very old statues in tin of the Buddha they are the largest such in the world.
Also known as the site of the Gibbon Foundation. A project which returns domesticated gibbons to the forest, Bang Pae is a small waterfall with a shady forest and thick foliage surrounding.
Visit the stream of cascading water and a couple of small drop pools where you can take a dip. Take a look at the cascade and then cross the bridge over the stream and climb the steps up the hill. Halfway are two large artificial drop pools created by two brick wall dams. At the top of the steps and along a footpath enjoy the view of the water falling down the hill.
The Trees, watercourses, and pools nearby provide one of Phuket's nicest scenes. A small falls over which pours a great volume of water during the rainy season.
